Kami-robo
A co-worker of mine recently expressed his son's fascination with kami-robo. Kami-robo are robots made out of paper that wrestle each other like professional wrestlers. Their creator, Tomohiro Yasui, has created a number of original characters, back stories and organizations that the characters belong to. All in all it's pretty cool as the paper robots that he's made are really well constructed (he's had a lot of practice since he started at 10 years old and he's over 30 now) but at the same time it's kinda silly (scroll down and watch the movies).
Anyway, I picked up a couple toys for my co-worker's son while I was in Japan. They were part of a kit, so he had to put them together but it seems they turned out all right. The aren't exactly paper but they're more durable plastic for young hands and they look like they maintain the flexability/posability of the paper robots.
